Shorncliffe Lodge
Lodge number: 4330

Established (Warrant): 1921
When first consecrated in November 1921 Shorncliffe Lodge was formed as a military lodge with membership restricted to serving personnel of H.M. Forces holding the rank of Sergeant or above. Without any formal change in the constitution of the lodge, its entirely military composition has, over the years, altered and it is now a normal masonic lodge without restriction of membership. Our current membership has brethren from many walks of life including IT, Insurance, Security, Retail, Education, Engineering, Local Government, and from the Ambulance and Paramedic services in the Southeast. There is a broad age span within the Lodge, an active WhatsApp group and regular social events outside of the Lodge.
For the first 13 years after its consecration the Lodge met at the Masonic Hall, Sandgate, by permission of the members of Castle Lodge No. 1436. In September 1934 it moved to the White Lion Hotel, Cheriton, where it met until 1958 when it made a further move to the Masonic Temple at Grace Hill, Folkestone. In the early 1990s the lodge came full circle and, again by kind permission of Castle Lodge 1436, returned to its first home at the Masonic Hall in Sandgate where it has happily remained.
