Castle Lodge and members of other Masonic Lodges and Units based at the Sandgate Masonic Hall have begun an extensive three year building refurbishment programme which involves the 'like for like' replacement of the sash cord windows on its 2nd floor, also repairs to and redecoration to the outer rendering.
The Treasurer for the Trustees of the building Peter West, said, “ We are proud to be the owners of a building with such a significant historic relevance to Sandgate. The members of Castle Lodge formerly Sandgate Lodge have been active in Sandgate for over 150 years, its former members have been at the heart of the community during that period. Like many older buildings, the cost of maintenance is a challenge, however we remain committed to keeping what we regard as our home and an iconic local building ship shape for many years to come"
